About

HISTORY

Buckhead was a local innovator in last-mile connectivity when it first launched the buc shuttle service in 2003. The fixed-route shuttle initially provided a free service for MARTA riders to connect to key destinations and businesses, running from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with hundreds of riders every day. After several years in service, the system was decreased to two main lines due to federal funding and provided last-mile connections during peak AM and PM hours along the Piedmont-Lenox and Lenox Park lines.

In 2018, Livable Buckhead commissioned a study to identify modern technologies that would again innovate our last-mile connectivity system in Buckhead. With the goal to expand our transportation network and meet a wider-range of mobility needs, the study led to the finding of the current on-demand micro-transit system powered by Via.

FUNDING & OPERATIONS

Livable Buckhead and the Buckhead Community Improvement District are working together to continuously enhance and improve overall quality of life in Buckhead.

The Buc on-demand transportation service is fully funded by the Buckhead CID, with a one-year contract approved by the CID board. This contract was awarded to Via, one of the leading providers of on-demand public mobility solutions. Livable Buckhead manages the operations and communications of the shuttle system.
